We hold formal meditation sessions every week in the evenings, on Wednesdays between 7:30 pm and 9:00 pm. The event listing on this site indicates the actual schedule, so be careful and check it if you are unsure.

Regular sitting

The regular sitting schedule consists of the following portions:

7:30 Setup and Opening
7:35 Zazen, Kinhin
8:05 Zazen, Kinhin
8:30 Zazen
8:45 Sarei
8:55 Closing and Clean-up

Zazen (seated meditation) and kinhin (walking meditation) make up approximately thirty minutes. The sitting portion lasts between 20 and 23 minutes. The sitting is led by a timekeeper (jikijitsu) who performs the opening and closing ceremony of the zendō and uses a bell and clappers to indicate the various portions of the evening.
Tea is served by the teaserver (shoji) in a formal way called sarei. The closing of the evening includes a short chant followed by prostrations.
